Ballistic, Forced Entry & Blast Resistant Products
Norshield Security Products is the leading manufacturer of certified ballistic, attack and blast resistant doors, windows, wall systems and accessories. Since our beginning in 1981, Norshield has expanded products and facilities to meet the world's growing force protection needs.
By the time of the 2001 terror attacks on American soil, Norshield was steadfastly protecting American and foreign assets in over 140 countries. Our ballistic, blast, and forced entry doors and windows have changed the balance of security in federal facilities both domestic and abroad.
Recent attacks on civilian rather than governmental targets in America, Sudan, Egypt, Yemen, and others have shown a new direction, but continued resolve of terrorism. Norshield stands in the gap protecting people, property and critical infrastructure.
On November 4, 1979, Iranian militants stormed the United States Embassy in Tehran and took approximately seventy Americans captive. This terrorist act triggered the most profound crisis of the Jimmy Carter presidency and began a personal ordeal for the president and the American people that lasted 444 days. This event coupled with the April 18, 1983 bombing of the U. S. Embassy in Beirut, which killed 63 including 17 Americans, solidified the threat that Americans and their allies face. In the shadow of these events, Norshield was established in 1981 to address the rising threat of global terrorism. Since that time, the force protection industry has matured, demanding increasingly higher levels of performance and aesthetics.
Headquartered in Montgomery, Alabama, Norshield has an 11 acre campus with 100,000 square feet of manufacturing. With direct access to Interstate 1-85 and I-65, as well as East Coast and Gulf shipping ports, Norshield has established trucking and shipping relationships which allow us to consistently deliver our products anywhere in the world to meet or exceed our client’s expectations.
Capacity & Capabilities
Our local area has accessible and economical warehouse space to accommodate spikes in demand and future growth. Coupled with a large pool of skilled and semi-skilled labor available in the tri-county area, Norshield can quickly increase capacity to meet demand.
Productivity and efficiency improvements have allowed Norshield to increase throughput without adding additional craftsmen or additional shifts. Our laser fabrication centers, high speed milling equipment, press brakes and skilled workforce provide Norshield the flexibility of tripling throughput simply by adding additional shifts to our current one shift, five day, eight hour weekly work schedule.
Norshield’s manufacturing operations incorporate modern, computer controlled steel and aluminum fabrication equipment in addition to automated assembly processes.
These capabilities allow us to produce concurrently on door and window production lines without impacting the flow of materials. We currently operate a one shift, 5-day a week schedule, affording Norshield wide scheduling flexibility by utilizing second shift hours and weekends for short and long term demand spikes.
